Why does this 2-coin set of 1921 Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars belong in your collection?
This remarkable set was assembled as a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Morgan and Peace Silver Dollars. In 1921, a historic change in imagery occurred for the U.S. Mint's Silver Dollar coin, marking the conclusion of the Morgan Silver Dollar series and the introduction of the Peace Dollar series. This 1921 set includes one of the last Morgan Dollars minted and one of the first Peace Dollars minted. The 1921 Peace Dollar was struck in high relief, an attribute that was replaced with a standard strike for all other releases of the series.
Gorgeous Silver Dollar Designs
Obverse: The Morgan and Peace Dollar series were designed following the regulations of the Coinage Act of 1792, which was signed into law by President George Washington. Each obverse includes the "1921" date paired with an allegorical image of Liberty. The Morgan Dollar, featuring plant elements ornamenting Liberty's hair, celebrated the nation's advancements in agriculture, while the Peace Dollar's rendition was inspired by the symbolism of the Statue of Liberty.
Reverse: The reverse of each coin features a distinctive interpretation of an eagle, the national bird of the U.S., surrounded by inscriptions that include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the coin's "ONE DOLLAR" denomination.
Beautiful 2-Coin Silver Dollar Set
Each coin in this 1921 100th Anniversary Silver Dollar Set is ungraded.
