1999-W 1 oz Gold Eagle
This 1999 West Point Mint proof Gold Eagle is a 1 oz. size and contains a full Troy oz of .9167 fine gold. The series of gold eagles were first produced in 1986 by the Unites States Mint and is a favorite among bullion buyers and coin collectors alike since the first introduction date. Struck in 22 Kt Gold, also known as “Crown Gold,” the proof eagle is a great item regardless of whether you are buying for gold content or collectible value. Also, if you happen to be buying more for the simple gold value, the American Gold Eagle is one of the world’s most well-known gold coins.
West Point Mint PF70 Ultra Cameo Coin
NGC or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, is one of the best grading companies for coins today. They have determined that this coin has the frosted lettering and devices on both sides of the coin – which will give it the Ultra Cameo grade finish. The frosting is made by sandblasting the die and then using a polishing method to achieve this brilliant finish. NGC then looks at the condition of the coin and has found it to be in absolute perfect condition and grading it a 70 grade – the highest grade a coin can get.
Gold Eagle Design
On the obverse of this year’s Gold Eagle design is a image rendition of the original Saint Gauden’s Double Eagle design. It shows Lady Liberty with a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. She appears to be walking in front of a bright sun, and the Capitol building appears in the background as well. On the edge of this side of the coin is inscribed with a circle of 50 stars – representing the 50 states of the union. The other inscriptions on this obverse include the word “LIBERTY” and the year it was minted, “1999.”
As stated above - the obverse side of the Gold Eagle is certainly impressive, but so is the reverse. This side of the coin shows a male bald eagle returning to the nest where his female mate and offspring are waiting for his arrival. It entails incredible detail showing that you can see on the eagles and the nest. This reverse is inscribed with the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “1 oz. FINE GOLD,” and “50 DOLLARS.” These coins have probably the most visually stunning designs of any modern coin today.
