Why purchase this 1/4 oz. 1999 Gold $10 Eagle

This Gold 1/4 oz. $10 1999 Eagle features a stunning design that many consider the most beautiful in numismatic history. Struck from .9167 fine gold, this piece comes to us from the West Point Mint. As the final coin of the 1900's, it would make a fantastic addition to any Gold Eagle collection.

Stunning Saint-Gaudens Design

The obverse design was revived from the Saint-Gaudens double eagle. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, it depicts Liberty standing and facing the holder as her long hair and loose garment blow freely in the wind. She holds her burning torch of freedom in her right hand and an olive branch, symbolizing peace, in her left. Fifty stars, an adaptation from the number on the original to account for the union's newest states, encircle the image.

On the reverse is Miley Busiek's design of a family of eagles, the national bird. The male grasps an olive branch in its claws as it returns to its waiting mate and young, which are in their nest. Several inscriptions are also included on this face of the coin, including the coin's face value and weight.

This coin was graded by the experts at the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and was certified as being in Mint State 70 condition, meaning that it lacks any flaws that are visible under 5x magnification.
