Why purchase this perfectly struck 4-Coin Proof set of 1998-W American Platinum Eagles?

1998 marked the second year of production for the U.S. Mint's American Platinum Eagle series, and thus began the tradition of annually changing reverse imagery for the proof releases of the coin. The new 1998 design was also the first release of a five year mini-series titles "Vistas of Liberty," which depicted the bald eagle in different regions of the United States. Having a combined total weight of 1.85 Troy oz. of .9995 fine Platinum, this set includes four 1998-W Platinum Eagle Proofs struck at the West Point Mint, with the face values of $10, $25, $50 and $100.

First Design in the "Vistas of Liberty" Series

The reverse features a bald eagle soaring above the Atlantic Ocean near the jagged New England shoreline, with a lighthouse and moon in the distance. The design by John Mercanti is surrounded by appropriate weight, purity, denomination, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and the "W" Mint mark.

The obverse, also by Mercanti, depicts an incredibly detailed view of the Statue of Liberty, accompanied by the inscriptions "LIBERTY," "1998, "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM."

Flawless Proof 70 Set

Each coin in this Proof 1998-W Platinum Eagle set is graded a perfect Proof 70 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), with the additional designation of Ultra Cameo (UC), for the dramatic contrast between the frosted and mirrored surfaces.

This perfectly graded set of 1998-W American Platinum Eagle Proofs will make a fantastic addition to your collection!
