Why add this 1998 American Silver Eagle coin to your collection of precious metal treasures?

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. The series has been an annual product of the U.S. Mint since its introduction in 1986, and is recognized worldwide for its powerful imagery dedicated to the national themes of liberty, freedom and peace.

  • This 1998 American Silver Eagle coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .9999 fine silver.
  • The bullion coin measures 40.60 mm in diameter.
  • The coin is one of only 4,847,549 minted.

Stunning Patriotic Beauty of the American Silver Eagle

Obverse: The obverse is adorned with a timeless personification of the concept of Liberty. Liberty is represented as a young woman casually strolling toward the rising sun, reaching forward to welcome a future of hope and prosperity for the nation, while draped in the distinctive stars and stripes of the American flag. Ms. Liberty is portrayed carrying an enormous bundle of oak and laurel branches, which are emblematic of honor, endurance and victory. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "1998" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." This rendition of Liberty created by famed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman first appeared on the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar.

Reverse: The reverse features a heraldic eagle with an olive branch and arrows in its grip. This is the classic Type-1 design which was minted upon all Silver Eagles released from 1986 until mid-2021. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," "ONE DOLLAR" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM." The design is an example of the work of sculptor John Mercanti, the U.S. Mint's 12th Chief Engraver.
