Adolph A. Weinman's Lady Liberty
The obverse features Lady Liberty striding toward a rising sun draped in the American flag. "LIBERTY" stretches overhead with the year "1997" beneath her sandal clad feet. "IN GOD WE TRUST" is written beside her. The reverse, by John Mercanti, depicts a heroic eagle with a shield grasping an olive branch and arrows, thirteen stars above. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR"; "E PLURIBUS UNUM" engraved across a banner held in the eagle's beak.
