NBA Superstar Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan was born in 1963 in Brooklyn. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Wilmington, North Carolina. While he was growing up, Jordan played a variety of sports. He was very athletic and didn't limit himself to just basketball. He also played football and baseball. Over the years, his famous work ethic helped to drive many of Jordan's achievements. An early example of this is when he tried out for the varsity basketball team as a sophomore. He didn't make the team, so he spent the next year improving his skills. As a junior he made the varsity team and then had a big impact on the court.
After a great high school career, Jordan attended North Carolina and played for the Tar Heels. Jordan continued to improve during these years. After his third season with the Tar Heels, he headed for the NBA. Jordan was selected by the Chicago Bulls in 1984 as the third overall pick in the first round. Most of his career was spent with the Bulls. Today he is one of the most well-known and financially successful retired professional athletes of all-time.
