World-Famous MJ
He grew up in the Wilmington, North Carolina area, but Michael Jordan was actually born in Brooklyn in 1963. Jordan was quite diverse in his skills as a young athlete. He played baseball, football, and basketball. He continued to play multiple sports before eventually settling on basketball. His work ethic has been discussed a lot over the years and without a doubt it was a major factor in Jordan's success overall. One early example of this was the first time he tried out for the varsity basketball team. He was only a sophomore and didn't make the team. After that, he practiced harder than before and became even more of a standout player on the junior varsity team. Jordan had no problem making the varsity team as a junior.
In college, Michael Jordan was a Tar Heel. He spent 3 impressive years there before heading to the NBA. Given that he was picked third overall in the first round of the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls, it seems that was definitely the right move. Many years and NBA championships later, Michael Jordan is one of the most well-known and financially successful professional athletes of all-time.
