Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963. He was born in Brooklyn and when he was still young the family moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. By the time he reached high school, his potential was clearly showing. At this point he wasn't a one-sport athlete, he played and excelled at several sports through high school. However, there was one experience during these years that Jordan often refers to when on the subject of his famous work ethic. He tried out for the varsity basketball team as a sophomore. He didn't make the team. In response, he spent the next year practicing more than ever and standing out on the junior varsity court. He easily made the varsity team as a junior.
Jordan continued to grow as a player through college. After just 3 seasons with the North Carolina Tar Heels, he opted for the NBA draft. In 1984 he was selected third overall and went to the Chicago Bulls. Jordan had many incredible seasons with the Bulls, he spent the majority of his career with them. Today he is known around the world for his appearances and endorsements as well as his legendary NBA career.
