1996 Silver Eagle NGC MS69 Mint State 69
New series go through what is often called an inaugural sales spike when they first come out but over time the newness of a series fades and the mintages tend to bottom out somewhere between the fifth and the tenth year of production. True to form the 1996 Silver Eagle with its 3,603,386 mintage is the lowest bulk produced coin in the series. Only the mint marked burnished Silver Eagles are lower. The combination of relatively mild mintages and being issued in bulk not single capsules makes it more difficult to find outstanding examples of this coin.
