It was February of 1963 when Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn. A few years later he moved to Wilmington, North Carolina with his family. Jordan grew up in Wilmington and this is where his story really begins. He was very active growing up and played several sports for most of those years. He was known for excelling at basketball, baseball, and football. All of this athletic experience at a young age paired well with his famous work ethic. While Jordan is primarily known for his basketball skills and NBA career, he also had a short career in minor league baseball.

His wealth of experience and the challenges he faced as an athlete set Jordan up for tremendous success. After high school he played for the North Carolina Tar Heels for 3 years before moving up to the NBA. He was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 1984. Michael Jordan led the Bulls to many wins and NBA Championships. After some premature attempts, he retired as a player for the last time in 2003. Thanks to his appearances and endorsements he is one of the most well-known professional athletes in the world.
