Why add the Proof 69 1994-W $25 Gold Eagle Proof to your collection?

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this 1994-W $25 Gold Eagle at the elevated Proof 69 grade and awarded it the Ultra Cameo designation. This example was struck at the U.S. Mint branch at West Point, New York. The Gold Eagle series was introduced in 1986 by the Mint and is massively popular with and trusted by collectors worldwide. It was struck on a 91.67% gold round guaranteed to contain 1/2 oz. of gold. This coin has a mintage of 44,584 units.

Saint-Gaudens obverse design from the renaissance of American coinage

The obverse design on the coin depicts the image of the Goddess Liberty as envisioned by artistic legend Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It was originally used on the circulating U.S. $20 gold piece. Liberty is shown holding the Torch of Freedom aloft in her right hand. She firmly grips an olive branch in her left. The reverse of the coin is spectacular in its own right. A powerful male bald eagle is shown returning to his nest, as designed by U.S. Mint designer Miley Busiek.

Remarkable Proof 69 grade with coveted Ultra Cameo designation

Through a specialized method of polishing the dies the desirable proof "cameo" finish is achieved. Cameo is the word used to describe the contrast between the frosty details and the mirrored fields of the coin.
