Why order this 1/2 oz. Gold 1994 $25 American Eagle?

This $25 American 1994 1/2 oz. Gold Eagle gives you the chance to own one of the early issues of the world's most popular gold bullion series. This coin was part of a mintage of 62,400, a very low percentage of which earned perfect grades. That makes this Brilliant Uncirculated piece all the more attractive. The coin was struck from .9167 fine gold at the Philadelphia Mint.

Iconic Saint-Gaudens Design

The obverse of this coin bears what is widely considered to be the most beautiful design in the history of American coins. Named for the man who designed it, Augustus Saint-Gaudens, the image features Liberty standing at the center holding two powerful symbols. In front of her, she extends her large torch of freedom, a symbol of freedom that is recognized throughout the world. To her side, she extends an olive branch in her left hand. In the lower left is a miniature rendering of the Capitol Dome, while the background consists of the rays of the morning sun emerging from beyond the horizon. Fifty stars along the rim represent the states.

On the reverse, which was designed by Miley Busiek, is a family of eagles. The male is the top portion of the design. He has his wings spread as he prepares to land with an olive branch in his talons. Below, his mate watches him as she nestles their young under her wings.
