While the first coins of the Silver Panda series were released in the early 1980s, it wasn't until 1989 that the 1 oz. bullion version was offered for the first time. This 1 oz. Silver Panda was struck in 1993. Mintage of this coin was low, there were only 120,000 of these released. This figure is low compared to many other years of the series.
Sitting Panda Design
If you're looking for the date, it can be found on the obverse near the bottom of the design. This side shows a structure in Beijing known as the Temple of Heaven. The country of issue is inscribed in Chinese above the temple.
The face value can be found on the reverse as well as the silver weight and purity. A panda is pictured sitting on a rock. A variety of vegetation is shown around the panda. The panda is drawn with a line style that adds even more contrast to its natural pattern.
