1992 US Mint Uncirculated Coin SetThis 1992 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set features ten coins and two tokens. They are separated into two sets, half from the Denver Mint and half from the Philadelphia Mint. The coins included, one from each of the mints, are the Kennedy half dollar, the Washington quarter, the Roosevelt dime, the Jefferson nickel, and the Lincoln cent. Four of the coins are the same color, with the penny being the exception. Designs of this 1992 US Mint Uncirculated Coin SetThe penny is not just a different color; of the five coins, each of which features the president that gives it its name on the obverse, only the penny has that president facing to the right side of the coin. On the others, the president faces to the left. The penny shares the distinction with the nickel has having the president’s shoulders included in the image; the effigies of the other three are truncated at the neck. All of the coins, though, share three inscriptions, the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” the year of mintage, “1992,” and the word “LIBERTY,” on the obverse. Those from the same mint also share the mint mark, a “D” in the case of the Denver Mint and a “P” for those struck in Philadelphia. As for the reverse, the design on the Kennedy half dollar is adapted reasonably closely from the presidential seal. It shows an eagle holding an olive branch and arrows. The quarter has the same notion, but a very dissimilar design. The nickel and penny share the fact that they both have buildings on the reverse, Monticello, Jefferson’s Virginia home, and the Lincoln Memorial, respectively. The dime is unique among the five. It has a torch, which symbolizes liberty, in the middle. On either side of it are an oak branch, symbolizing strength, and an olive branch, symbolizing peace. The two tokens that come with the set share the same basic design. On the rim at the top of the obverse is the word “UNCIRCULATED.” The city of the mint is inscribed on the rim at the bottom of the token and its first letter, “P” or “D,” appears in large font in the middle. There are two inscriptions on the reverse, “TREASURY” at the top and “UNITED STATES MINT” on the bottom. In the middle is the seal of the US Mint. PLEASE NOTE: This U.S. Mint product was not purchased by us directly from the Mint but from collectors like you and other dealers. We make every effort to make sure the packaging is acceptable and that the coins are problem free. You may, however, receive coins that have toning or haze. This occurs naturally over time and is common to see. There may be some imperfections in packaging due to the sets leaving one collection to go into another. Please keep this in mind when examining your sets. |
