1992-D $1 White House Silver Dollar

This commemorative marks the 200th anniversary of the White House in Washington, D.C. While construction began in 1792, the White House was not deemed fit for occupants until November of 1800, when President Adams and First Lady Abigail Adams became the first residents. The White House was built mostly by immigrants, which reflects the diversity of the United States. Surviving many changes, including reconstruction after the attack by the British in 1814, the White House stands tall as a symbol of American pride and resilience.

Design of the 1992-D $1 White House Silver Dollar

The obverse depicts a view of the North portico of the White House. The incredible details of the windows and pillars are clearly seen in this high quality release. The obverse bears the inscriptions, “THE WHITE HOUSE,” “1792-1992,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “LIBERTY,” and the “D” mintmark.

The reverse bears the image of James Hoban, the architect of the original building, standing in front of the original main entrance. The details in the design bring the coin to life, as the original main entrance appears exactly as it once was, so long ago. The reverse bears the inscriptions, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “JAMES HOBAN.”
