Why buy this Large Date 1990 50 Yuan 1/2 oz. Gold Panda?
This 50 Yuan 1/2 oz. 1990 50 Yuan Large Date Gold Panda is ideal for collectors who love early date Panda coins or animal-themed coins generally. It was struck from .999 fine gold at the Shanghai Mint. Only 35,091 of these were minted, making this a truly unique opportunity for serious collectors.
Stunning Panda Design
The obverse of this 1990 Gold Panda features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests, one of the most famous buildings in Beijing's Temple of Heaven. Unlike recent editions, the base of the Hall extends to the rim and there is no frame. "People's Republic of China" is inscribed above the image in Chinese characters, while the year of issue, "1990," is inscribed at the base of the steps.
On the reverse, a large panda climbs out on a rocky outcrop, and bamboo stalks rise behind him. The face value of the coin is inscribed on the bottom, while other inscriptions arch along the top portion of the rim. Most of this inscription is in Chinese characters, though ".999 1/2 OZ AU" is also included.
Uncirculated Mint State 68 with Exclusive Great Wall Label
An image of the Great Wall of China is featured on the label on which the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) printed this coin's grade. That grade, Mint State 68, is given to coins that were struck very sharply but have minuscule imperfections.
Don't miss your chance to own this 1/2 oz. Gold 1990 50 Yuan Large Date Panda.
