Why order this Commemorative 1989-1993 George and Barbara Bush 5 oz Silver Proof Medal?
Commonwealth Mint commemorates the lives of one of America's most admired political couples with this George and Barbara Bush Commemorative Silver Proof. George Bush served in World War II, as President Ronald Reagan's Vice President, and one term as President. During that term, he led the world in the liberation of Kuwait. His wife Barbara was best known for her work in promoting adult literacy. The two died in 2018 just seven months apart after 73 years of marriage. Struck from 5 oz. of .999 fine silver, this medal is part of a mintage of just 500 pieces that were struck to honor the much admired couple. This product is exclusive to Modern Coin Mart.
Moving George and Barbara Bush Design by Don Everhart
George and Barbara Bush smile brightly on the obverse. Their advanced years show, but they appear happy and optimistic, sharing their love of each other and their love of life. Their names, "GEORGE H. W. BUSH AND BARBARA BUSH," arch over their heads along the rim. This Medal was designed and sculpted by Don Everhart. Don Everhart is a now retired U.S Mint Lead Sculptor with decades of Numismatic experience. He has lent his talents to make award-winning designs for such organizations as the U.S Mint, the Walt Disney Company, and the American Numismatic Society among many others.
The reverse bears a plaque that George kept in his office. It references ideal weather conditions for pilots flying from carriers, as he did in World War II. It says, "CAVU CEILING AND VISIBILITY UNLIMITED." The phrase held deep meaning for the President, who said in a letter to his children that it described the state of his life thanks to his children. At the bottom of a plaque is a ribbon that bears the years of Bush's presidency, "1989-1993," while the White House stands at the top of this face.
Virtually Flawless PF69 UC
The label on which Numismatic Guaranty Corporation's (NGC's) grading information is provided is NGC's standard brown label. NGC gave the coin a Proof 69 (PF69) grade, their second highest, which indicates that it is in perfect condition as seen by the unaided eye. NGC also certified the coin Ultra Cameo (UC), which means that it has deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices. This purchase will come with a story card that features the signature of the Designer and Sculptor, Don Everhart.
