Why Order This BU 1986 $25 Gold Eagle?

In 1986, the US Mint released the first American Gold Eagle coins. This 1986 Gold Eagle has a face value of $25 and an actual gold weight of ½ Troy oz. It’s made of 22 karat gold, so the total weight of the coin is a bit higher. This series was an immediate success and that is reflected in the mintage figures. So far, 1986 has had the highest mintage for bullion issue ½ oz. Gold Eagles with a total of 599,566.

The obverse displays Liberty holding her torch high and carrying an olive branch with her other hand. This design was originally created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The work of Miley Busiek can be found on the reverse. This side shows a family of bald eagles as one of the adults returns to the nest.

This coin has not been graded by a third-party grading service. It’s in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, so it will arrive looking like it just came from the Mint.
