Why buy this 35-Coin 1986 - 2020 American Silver Eagle Set?
The American Silver Eagle made its debut in 1986. Over the past three and a half decades since, the coin has become a favorite of countless collectors. This set consists of one coin from each of the first 35 years of the series. The coins all share the same designs, and each one has been graded Mint State 69 by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
Featuring the Patriotic Designs of John Mercanti and Adolph Weinman
Obverse: On the obverse is the iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. Liberty is the picture of patriotism. Draped in the American flag, she carries laurel and oak branches as the sun emerges from beyond the horizon. Her name, "LIBERTY," is inscribed on this face, as are the date and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST." Adolph Weinman is best known for his two biggest contributions to America's early 20th century numismatic renaissance, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. Some of his many sculptures can still be seen in various American cities.
Reverse: John Mercanti modeled his reverse design after the Great Seal of the United States. Thirteen stars represent the original states at the top of the design, while an eagle protects a union shield below. Rim inscriptions read, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." John Mercanti spent over three and a half decades with the US Mint, part of which he spent in the post of Chief Engraver. He has designed more medals and coins than anyone else in the institution's history.
Nearly Perfect MS69
Each coin in this set was graded Mint State 69 by the experts at Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). To earn that grade, a coin must appear flawless to the naked eye.
