1984 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set

This 1984 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set features two versions of all of the coins minted for circulation that year, but the versions in the set are uncirculated. That means that they are in excellent condition, as they have not suffered the wear and tear that are subject to the coins used in daily commerce. These coins also come with two tokens, one from the Philadelphia Mint and the other from the Denver Mint.

Designs of the 1984 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set

The smallest denomination in this 1984 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set is the Lincoln cent. Abraham Lincoln is featured on the obverse facing to the right side of the coin. Behind him is the word “LIBERTY,” which is inscribed horizontally, as is the inscription in front of him, “1984,” the year of mintage. The national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” arches over his head along the rim at the top. On the reverse, the country of the coin, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” is inscribed along the top half of the rim. The main image is the Lincoln Memorial, one of America’s most recognizable landmarks. Between the inscription at the top and the Memorial is the motto from the Great Seal of the United States, “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (From many, one). The face value, “ONE CENT,” is inscribed in large lettering at the bottom.1984 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set

Between the inscription at the top and the Memorial is the motto from the Great Seal of the United States, “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (From many, one). The face value, “ONE CENT,” is inscribed in large lettering at the bottom.

The next largest denomination is the Jefferson Nickel. Thomas Jefferson faces the left side of the coin and is shown from the shoulders up. To the left is the inscription of the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST.” Arching down along the rim at the right side of the coin is the word “LIBERTY” and the year of mintage, “1984.” Jefferson’s Virginia home, Monticello, spans nearly the full diameter of the coin on the reverse. Below that is an arching inscription of the coin’s face value, “FIVE CENTS.” The country of the coin, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” is inscribed along the bottom half of the rim, while “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is inscribed at the top.

The Roosevelt dime features President Franklin Delano Roosevelt facing to the left of the coin. The year of mintage, “1984,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “LIBERTY” appear as inscriptions on this obverse. On the reverse, the main design features an olive branch, an oak branch, and a torch. Through the bottom portions of the items is the motto from the Great Seal, “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The face value of the coin, “ONE DIME,” is inscribed along the bottom. The face value of the coin, “QUARTER DOLLAR,” is displayed at the bottom along the rim, while its country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” arches along the top half of the rim.

The Washington Quarter is the next coin in this set. President George Washington faces to the left. Under his chin is the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the mint mark, if any, appears at the same level on the opposite side. Under his neck is the year of mintage, “1984.” “LIBERTY” is inscribed at the top along the rim. An eagle dominates the reverse of this coin. It clutches a bundle of arrows, which the designer uses to represent America’s willingness to fight for its value, though the olive branches under the arrows indicate a preference for peace. In the space between the wings and over its head, which faces to the left, are the words “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

The final coin in the set, the half dollar features President John F. Kennedy facing to the left. Given his youth while in office, his portrait is of a man considerably younger than those on the other coins. The year of mintage, “1984,” is spread along the rim at the bottom, with “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “LIBERTY”.

Two inscriptions, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” at the top and “HALF DOLLAR,” the coin’s face value at the bottom, appear along the rim. In the middle, an eagle spreads its wings and talons, protecting a shield, which stands for the country. In the eagle’s beak is a ribbon that extends over its head. It bears the motto from the Great Seal, “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

PLEASE NOTE: This U.S. Mint product was not purchased by us directly from the Mint but from collectors like you and other dealers. We make every effort to make sure the packaging is acceptable and that the coins are problem free. You may, however, receive coins that have toning or haze. This occurs naturally over time and is common to see. There may be some imperfections in packaging due to the sets leaving one collection to go into another. Please keep this in mind when examining your sets.
