1972 US Mint Uncirculated Coin SetThis 1972 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set contains each of the American coins that were minted for circulation that year, including one from each mint in the cases of coins that were minted in more than one location. All told, the set includes eleven coins. This includes Lincoln pennies from Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco and two each, one from the Denver Mint the other from the Philadelphia Mint, of Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, and Kennedy half dollars. None of the coins in this set have any silver. Designs of the coins in the 1972 US Mint Uncirculated Coin SetEach of these coins bears an effigy of one of America’s most famous presidents, five men who shaped the course of American history. It is notable that four of the five presidents face to the left of the obverse, with the one exception being Lincoln. Three of the coins, the dime, the quarter, and the half dollar, feature portraits that are separated from the rims of the coins, while the images of Jefferson and Lincoln go straight to them. Among the images on the reverses of the coins, two are realistic and three are symbolic. The reverse of the Lincoln cent has one of the most famous landmarks in America, the Lincoln Memorial, while the reverse of the Jefferson nickel features his famous Virginia home, Monticello. Eagles feature prominently on the half dollar and the quarter, with the one on the half dollar adapted from the presidential seal. In both cases, the eagles hold an olive branch and arrows in their talons. The Roosevelt dime consists of three images, a torch flanked by an olive branch on one side and an oak branch on the other. Respectively, the three represent freedom, peace, and strength.
