1970 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set
The 1970 Uncirculated Mint Set includes a total of ten coins which are struck at one of three different U. S. Mint facilities. Included in the set are the 0.01, 0.10, and 0.25 from the Philadelphia Mint; the 0.01, 0.05, 0.10, 0.25, and 0.50 from the Denver Mint; and the 0.01 and 0.05 from the San Francisco Mint. The total face value of the coins is $1.33 and the original purchase price for the sets was $2.50. The total mintage was 2,038,134. The coin weights and dimensions vary according to the denomination.
The 1970 US Mint Uncirculated Coin Set
The 1970 uncirculated coin sets are of special interest to numismatists since they include the 1970-D Kennedy half dollar was struck in 40% silver and was not issued for circulation. This created a low mintage key date for the series.
The set is packaged similarly to sets of that era. Coins from the Philadelphia and San Francisco Mints are sealed in cellophane with a blue stripe at the top and bottom edges. Coins from the Denver Mint are sealed in cellophane with a red stripe at the top and bottom edge. The set comes in a small envelope with cardboard inserts for protection.
