Why buy this 5 oz Silver 1969-2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Robbins Medal with Space Flown Alloy?

Share in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission that marked the first time that man landed on the moon with this Antiqued Medal. Sunshine Minting struck the medal from 5 oz. of .999 fine silver. It then took alloy that was flown into space on an Apollo mission, removed any impurities in it, and incorporated the pure alloy into the antiquing solution. That means that this medal includes alloy that has been flown in space! That makes this medal a 'must-have' for any space exploration enthusiast.

Patriotic Mission Patch Design

The obverse replicates the mission medals that were flown into space. The original medals were reserved for those directly involved in the mission. It features the mission patch, on which an eagle lands on the moon. "APOLLO 11" is inscribed at the top, and the Earth is visible in the distance, with the United States visible.

On the reverse are details about the mission. These include the three key dates, "LAUNCHED JULY 16, 1969," "LANDED JULY 20, 1969," and "RETURNED JULY 24, 1969." The anniversary dates, "1969-2019," are inscribed at the bottom, and the last names of the three astronauts on the mission, "ARMSTRONG - COLLINS - ALDRIN," are included along the rim.

Impeccable MS70 First Day of Production

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) determined that this medal lacks any imperfections that are visible under 5x magnification, so they awarded it their highest grade, Mint State 70. They also certified it First Day of Production, a designation that is reserved for pieces that are accompanied by documentation from the mint attesting to this fact.
