Apollo 11 Designs on Obverse and Reverse

A bald eagle can be seen just above the rough surface of the moon on the obverse, it's just about to land. If you look at the background, Earth can be seen in the distance. The upper portion is inscribed with "APOLLO 11." This design was also used on the reverses of both the Eisenhower (1971-1974, 1977-1978) and Susan B. Anthony (1979-1981, 1999) dollars.

More inscriptions can be found on the reverse. The names of the Apollo 11 astronauts form a partial border here. The 50th anniversary dates are at the bottom and key mission dates are at the center of the design.
