Why Choose This MS70 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Antiqued Copper Medal?
The Apollo 11 Mission was an incredible milestone for the United States. Neil Armstrong was a part of this mission and became the first man to walk on the moon. The mission took place in 1969 and the medal shown here was struck to mark the 50th anniversary of the event. It's modeled after the original Robbins medals that were made for the mission. This medal was struck by Sunshine Minting, a widely respected private mint in the U.S.
Iconic Apollo 11 Design
The design on the obverse of this copper medal is based on the patch that was created for the Apollo 11 mission. A bald eagle is pictured just about to land on the surface of the moon. Earth can be seen in the background.
The reverse features a number of inscriptions. The names of the astronauts that made up the Apollo 11 crew are inscribed at the top of the design. The dates of the mission are inscribed on the center and the 50th anniversary dates can also be found on this side.
NGC Certified MS70
