Why Buy This MS70 First Day of Production 2019 Apollo 11 50th Anniversary 1 oz. Copper Medal?
In 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission. The copper medal shown here has an antiqued finish, it was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. This medal was struck by Sunshine Minting, which is one of the most reputable private mints in the United States.
Classic Apollo 11 Design
The designs on this medal were inspired by the Robbins medals that were created for the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. The obverse shows a bald eagle on the surface of the moon. This design is based on the Apollo 11 mission patch.
The reverse features a number of inscriptions about the mission. The 50th anniversary dates are at the bottom of the design. The last names of the astronauts are at the top. The central portion shows the major dates of the mission.
NGC MS70 First Day of Production
Because documentation was provided by the mint attesting to the fact that this medal was produced on the first day of minting, it received the First Day of Production designation when it was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. When it was examined by their team of unbiased professionals it was found to be free of imperfections, so it was awarded the grade of Mint State 70.
