Military Payment Certificates (MPC) were printed from 1946 until 1973 and issued to United States military personnel who were serving overseas. The Vietnam Era Series 661 certificates were issued from October 1968 through August 1969, in denominations ranging from five cents to twenty dollars.

Vibrantly Colorized Imagery
Obverse: The obverse features the image of Lady Liberty which first appeared on the MPC series 591 $10 note (issued 1961-1964). Inscriptions include the note's unique serial number, "MILITARY PAYMENT CERTIFICATE" and "SERIES 661," along with the certificate's "ONE DOLLAR" denomination and a statement of legal tender value "ONLY IN UNITED STATES MILITARY ESTABLISHMENTS BY UNITED STATES AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL."
Reverse: The reverse depicts a scenic view of Washington state's Mount Rainier from a river bed below the majestic peak, accompanied by similar inscriptions.

Paper Money Guaranty (PMG) has authenticated this 1968-1969 $1 Vietnam Era Series 661 U.S. Military Payment Certificate and judged it to be in fantastic Superb Gem Uncirculated 67 condition. The certificate also qualified for the Exceptional Paper Quality (EPQ) designation, which is awarded to notes that are deemed completely original, without the addition of any physical or chemical alterations for the purpose of increasing its value. The beautifully minted certificate is sealed in a labeled PMG protective holder. As of March 2021, just 181 of these certificates have earned the 67 EPQ grade, with only 35 graded higher.
