Why Purchase This Circulated Series 641 1965-1968 $1 U.S. Military Payment Certificate?
Although the Vietnam War didn't take place on U.S. soil, it continues to be a frequently discussed topic today. The certificate shown here is not a federal reserve note. It was printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, but this is actually a Military Payment Certificate. This certificate is from series 641, this style was issued from 1965 to 1968. Payment certificates like this one were given to U.S. Military personnel in Vietnam. These certificates could only be redeemed on U.S. Military bases.
Series 641 $1 Design
While there are many similarities between the fractional series 641 certificates, the dollar certificates are a bit different. The obverse shows the detailed portrait of a woman on the right. The series number is printed near the top of the design and the serial number can be found in the left portion of the design.
This certificate has not been graded by a third party. It's in circulated condition and has signs of wear.
