Why should you purchase this 1964-2013 Kennedy Half Dollar collection?

The U.S. Mint introduced the Kennedy Half Dollar series in 1964. The series' launch represented a nearly immediate memorial to John F. Kennedy, the beloved 35th U.S. President that was lost to an assassination on a horrific day in American history, November 22, 1963.

  • This astounding collection of 166 coins contains an example of every Kennedy Half Dollar minted in the first fifty years of the series, from its inaugural release in 1964 through 2013.
  • The set is comprised of Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated coins struck at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints.
  • Metallic composition of the coins is mixed, including half dollars struck from 90% silver, 40% silver and cupro-nickel.
  • The coins are attractively assembled in a handsome Dansco album.

Classic Kennedy Half Dollar Design

Obverse: The obverse features a left facing likeness of Kennedy, which was inspired by an earlier portrait created for a Presidential Medal. Inscriptions include "LIBERTY," "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the date, along with Mint mark where applicable. The design is credited to Gilroy Roberts, the Mint's 9th Chief Engraver.

Reverse: The reverse showcases an interpretation of the United States Presidential Seal, crafted by the Mint's 10th Chief Engraver, Frank Gasparro. A heraldic eagle is depicted grasping a bundle of arrows and an olive branch, surrounded by fifty stars. Inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "HALF DOLLAR." The Kennedy Half Dollar design has remained constant throughout the series, with the exception of the Bicentennial commemorative issue, which features the fa?ade of Philadelphia's Independence Hall on the reverse, and the double date "1776-1976" on the obverse. This specially designed half dollar was released in both 1975 and 1976. There were no half dollars released with the 1975 date.

An Album of Half Dollars in Magnificent GEM Condition
