Striking Ben Franklin Design by John Sinnock

Obverse: Like the reverse, the obverse was designed by John Sinnock. The obverse bears a right-side portrait of Franklin, who is shown with long hair that falls down to his shoulders. The date, "1958," is inscribed to the right, while "LIBERTY" and the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," are inscribed along the rim.

Reverse: On the reverse is the Liberty Bell, the best known landmark in Franklin's city of Philadelphia. It is flanked by the inscription "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and an eagle. The name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," and the coin's face value, "HALF DOLLAR," are inscribed along the rim.
