Why order this Bronze 1955-S Lincoln Cent?

Lincoln Cents were only struck at the San Francisco Mint for three months in 1955, as it was cheaper to strike more coins at the Denver Mint and have them shipped out than to strike them at the San Francisco facility, which was inadequate at the time. In fact, coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint for another decade after the suspension, which makes this coin intriguing for collectors who are interested in numismatic history. Part of a mintage of 44,610,000 pieces, this coin bears an "S" mint mark on the obverse.

Classic President Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor D. Brenner

Both faces of this coin were designed by Victor D. Brenner. On the obverse is his right-side portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, which continues to be struck on American pennies today. The portrait comes down to the President's chest and shows him with a somber look. The national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed on the rim above his head. The portrait is flanked by two additional inscriptions, "LIBERTY," and the date, "1955."

The coin's face value, "ONE CENT," is inscribed in large font on the reverse. Just below it in a slightly smaller font is the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." these two inscriptions are flanked by two sheaves of wheat. The remaining statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM," is inscribed along the rim at the top.

Beautifully Preserved MS67 RD

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded this coin an uncirculated grade of Mint State 67. That means that it was sharply struck. NGC also certified the coin Red, meaning that it retains all of its mint luster.
