Why buy this Set of 3 1950's PF Flyers Mickey Mouse Club Swifty Flyer Baseball NOS Vintage Paper Signs?

Whether you are looking to decorate a mancave, a kid's room, or a rec room or you simply want to grow your collection of shoe themed or Disney themed items, this set of signs from the 1950's is for you. Each sign weighs about 2 oz and measures 14" x 4". The paper signs were made in Chicago, IL by Hood Footwear Products. They were supposed to be used to advertise the shoes in a shoe store, but they were never used. They were found in their original box in an old shoe store and remain in excellent new old stock condition, though they may have some minor wear. The set comes with a certificate of authenticity.

A Iconic American Brand

PF Flyers were made with Posture Foundation arch support insoles that were patented by Hyman Witman and B.F. Goodrich in 1933. The name was later shortened simply to "PF." The insoles provided excellent support, which made them popular among athletes, and shoes with the insoles soon became standard issue in some military outfits. The 1940's saw the insoles introduced to oxfords and moccasins, and new lines of shoes with them were made for women and children. PF Flyers made a lasting impact on the sneaker industry in 1958 when they became the first shoe with an athlete endorsement. That athlete was Boston Celtics legend and then future Hall of Famer Bob Cousy. PF Flyers grew in popularity with sponsorships of such programs as Jonny Quest and the Mickey Mouse Club and were selling a fifth of canvas sneakers in the United States by the 1960's. In the decade that followed, the brand declined in popularity on account of changes in the industry.
