Why purchase this Cardstock 1950's PF Flyers Bicycle Rider NOS Standup Sign?

Step back in time seven decades to the 1950's with this PF Flyers Bicycle Rider sign. Found in its original box in a shoe store, this sign was made to advertise one of the premier footwear brands of the 20th century. The sign was made of heavy cardstock by Hood Footwear Products in Chicago, Illinois and will arrive with a Certificate of Authenticity. Although it may have some minor wear, it is still in excellent condition. Signs such as these were often disposed of after use, its not every day you find one in this condition! This sign measures 17" x 12" and weighs about 12 oz. The sign would be ideal for a rec room or mancave, especially for a shoe or cycling enthusiast.

A Company That Changed an Industry

Canvas footwear pioneer B.F. Goodrich and Hyman L. Witman, the technology's inventor, patented "Posture Foundation" arch support insoles in 1933. Four years later, they shorted the name to "PF." The shoes became popular among athletes, including Canadian badminton player Jack Purcell, who designed a shoe for the company. The following decade, the company expanded into moccasins and oxfords while also offering lines for women and children. Shoes made with the technology even became standard issue in some military outfits. Boston Celtics great Bob Cousy signed an endorsement deal with the company in 1958, becoming the first athlete to have such a deal with a shoe company. PF expanded its popularity with sponsorships of shows like the Mickey Mouse Club and Jonny Quest, but its popularity waned in the early 1970's, when the industry went through some big changes.
