Why Buy This 1950s Dr. Pepper Clock Face?

With a product that's as established and well-known as Dr. Pepper, it's easy to assume that any question one could have about the subject has already been answered. We know that Dr. Pepper is one of the most popular soft drinks in the United States and around the world. We know most of the details about its history and how it came to be where it is today. What we do not know for sure, is exactly how it got its name or what it was supposed to mean or imply, though some do have theories. Fortunately, this is something that only adds to the allure of Dr. Pepper memorabilia.

The history of this uniquely flavored soft drink goes back to 1885 in Waco, Texas. That's when Dr. Pepper was offered for the first time. The formula was created by a pharmacist, Charles Alderton. Alderton was employed at Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store, which is where it was first sold. The name Dr. Pepper was given by Wade Morrison, the owner of the store. Soda fountains were a big part of American culture during this period and the new soft drink was an immediate hit. In less than 20 years it was introduced to the national market, which occurred in 1904 at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition.

This Dr. Pepper clock face is in good condition. This vintage piece is from the 1950s and is made of metal. You can even still see the General Electric logo near the center of the face. Interestingly enough, only the 2, 4, and 10 are in red while the other numbers are in black. This clock face measures 13" and comes with its own certificate of authenticity.
