Moving President Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor D. Brenner

Obverse: Victor D. Brenner's obverse design features a right-side portrait of American history's most admired leader, President Abraham Lincoln. The national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed along the rim above his head. Also inscribed on this face are "LIBERTY" and the date, "1950."

Reverse: The coin's face value, "ONE CENT," and country of issue, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," are inscribed at the center of the reverse. They are flanked by two ears of wheat. "E PLURIBUS UNUM," the second statutory motto, is inscribed along the rim at the top. Victor D. Brenner emigrated from the Russian Empire in what is today Lithuania. A medalist, engraver, and sculptor, his most famous work is the designs for this coin.
