Iconic President Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor D. Brenner

Obverse: Both faces of this coin bear designs that were created by Victor D. Brenner. A right-side portrait of President Abraham Lincoln graces the obverse. To the left is the inscription "LIBERTY," and to the right is the date, "1948." Above along the rim is an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Reverse: Two ears of wheat flank a pair of inscriptions on the reverse. Those inscriptions note the coin's face value, "ONE CENT," and country of issue, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." Also included on this face is the second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Victor D. Brenner immigrated to the United States from the Russian Empire.
