Powerful President Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor D. Brenner

Obverse: A right-side portrait of President Abraham Lincoln by Victor D. Brenner, who also designed the reverse, graces the obverse. To the left and right of the leader, respectively, are the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "1947." Above along the rim is an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Reverse: Two ears of wheat flank a pair of inscriptions on the reverse. Those inscriptions provide the coin's face value, "ONE CENT," and country of issue, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." Also inscribed on this face is a second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Born in the Russian Empire in what is today Lithuania, Victor D. Brenner immigrated to the United States. He was a sculptor, engraver, and medalist whose best known work is this coin.
