Classic Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor D. Brenner

Obverse: Like the reverse, the obverse was designed by Victor D. Brenner. It bears a right-side portrait of President Abraham Lincoln, who is flanked by two inscriptions, "LIBERTY" and "1946." The national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," is inscribed along the top portion of the rim.

Reverse: The coin's face value, "ONE CENT," and the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," feature at the center. They are flanked by ears of wheat. Above is the second statutory inscription, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Victor D. Brenner was a sculptor, engraver, and medalist. An immigrant to the United States from the Russian Empire, he was best known for designing this coin.
