Powerful President Abraham Lincoln Design by Victor David Brenner

Obverse: Victor David Brenner designed both faces of this coin. His left-side portrait of President Abraham Lincoln graces the obverse. The image is flanked by a pair of inscriptions, "LIBERTY" and "1943." Above is the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Reverse: At the center of the reverse are two inscriptions in large lettering, "ONE CENT" and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA." They are flanked by ears of wheat. Along the rim at the top is the second statutory motto, "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Victor David Brenner immigrated from Lithuania to the United States in 1890. He was a sculptor, an engraver, and a medalist, and the Lincoln Cent is his best known contribution to numismatics.
