Why Purchase This 1943 Coca-Cola WWII Consolidated B-24 "Liberator" Sign?

Today, we know Coca-Cola as a refreshing soft drink that is enjoyed around the world. It's the most consumed soft drink in the United States and in the world, it's enjoyed 1.7 billion times per day on average. Coca-Cola has held this title for decades and when observing something that has become a part of our culture like this, it can be hard to believe that it had a humble origin in the late 1800s as the idea of a lone pharmacist. However, it's a good thing that others saw the potential of Coca-Cola as well, because the chain of events could have easily been different.

Coca-Cola was offered for the first time in 1886. The formula was created by John Pemberton. The pharmacist's new stimulating tonic was an immediate hit with local customers. Pemberton's success with his new beverage got the attention of local investors, including Asa Candler. Pemberton split and sold the rights to use the formula shortly after introducing Coca-Cola and saved the rights to the name for his son. Candler wanted all of these rights for himself. After several years of pursuing them, he got them. When he did, he created the Coca-Cola Company, which was formed in 1892.

This cardstock sign has the Consolidated B-24 "Liberator" design. This vintage piece was part of a 1943 promotional series that featured pictures of a wide range of WWII aircraft.
