Why Buy This 1943 Coca-Cola WWII Bell P-39 "Airacobra" Sign?

Today you can find Coca-Cola practically anywhere, from small towns and big cities in the United States to popular destinations abroad and everywhere in between. It is enjoyed an average of 1.7 billion times per day around the world. The Coca-Cola Company was founded in 1892 by Asa Candler. With the size and scope of the company and its products today, the origin of Coca-Cola and its history can come as a surprise to some people. However, that only adds to the intrigue. We also get to enjoy the memorabilia from this company being among the first to really emphasize merchandising for their marketing strategy.

Candler started the Coca-Cola Company as mentioned above, but it was another small business owner who created the formula and sold the beverage for the first time. That man was John Pemberton, a pharmacist. He created and offered Coca-Cola for the first time in 1886. His new stimulating tonic was well-received by local customers and quickly gained popularity. Shortly after the initial success of Coca-Cola, Pemberton sold some of the rights to other businessmen. Candler would spend the next few years collecting them for himself before starting the company that we know today.

While this 15" by 13" cardstock Coca-Cola sign may have minor handling issues, it is in excellent condition, which makes it something you don't find every day! Most of these signs were used by local stores and restaurants when they were new, so most of them were eventually discarded over the years. This sign is from a 1943 promotional series that featured numerous WWII aircraft. The one offered here has the Bell P-39 "Airacobra" design and even comes with a certificate of authenticity.
