Why add the 1938-D Buffalo Nickel PCGS MS67 to your collection?

The solidly collectible grade of Mint State 67 was given to this Buffalo Nickel by the experts at Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS). This Buffalo Nickel was a copper-nickel five-cent piece struck by the Denver Branch of the U.S. Mint. The series was struck and circulated from 1913 to 1938. This final issue of the series has a PCGS population of 1,961 coins in this grade as of February 1, 2019. This example is a great value for such a highly graded coin from the 1930's and would be an outstanding choice for a type set of U.S. coinage.

Landmark American Design

The coin was designed by noted American sculptor James Earle Fraser who used three men as the models for the obverse. The image is iconic: it depicts a weathered and proud Native American Chief with feathers in his braided hair. "Black Diamond" the American Bison then at the New York City Zoo reportedly served as the model for the reverse. When asked about the design later in his life, Fraser said that he wanted to "do something totally American." The design, introduced over a century ago, is one of the most beloved in American Numismatics and stands as one of the most collected series ever.

Exemplary MS67 Collector Coin

Coins struck for circulation typically do not achieve the Mint State 67 grade. Coins in this grade are stunning with superior strikes, remarkable eye appeal and scintillating original surfaces. This example has lovely champagne gold toning throughout
