Why purchase this XF 1935 Peace Silver Dollar?
The Peace Dollar is an iconic American coin, and this piece was part of its final issue, making it an important find for collectors. The coin was part of a mintage of 1,576,000 pieces that were minted in Philadelphia in 1935. It was struck from .7734 troy oz of .900 fine silver.
Striking Liberty Design by Anthony de Francisci
Both faces of the Peace Dollar were designed by Anthony de Francisci. The obverse features Liberty wearing a radiate crown, which harks to the Statue of Liberty. De Francisci modeled Liberty after his wife. The portrait splits an inscription of the national motto, "IN GOD WE TRUST," while "LIBERTY" and "1935" are inscribed above and below the image, respectively.
On the reverse, an eagle stands at rest atop a crag. The rays of the sun extend upward and outward from the lower right, making for a majestic backdrop. The coin's face value, "ONE DOLLAR," is inscribed next to the bird, while the word "PEACE," for which the coin is named, is included at the bottom.
Well Preserved XF
According to our experts, this coin is in Extremely Fine condition. That means that its details remain sharp and it has only slight hints of wear. Any wear is limited to the highest points, meaning that the bulk of the design remains as it was when it was minted.
