Why make this 1929 Indian Head Gold Quarter Eagle coin the next addition to your collection?

The Indian Head Gold Quarter Eagle was an innovative series released by the U.S. Mint for only thirteen non-consecutive years, beginning in 1908 and concluding in 1929. The design by Boston sculptor Bela Lyon Pratt was rimless, featuring an incuse strike, which was a first for the Mint. Representing the series' final year of issue, this 1929 Indian Head Quarter Eagle was struck at the Philadelphia Mint from 0.1210 Troy oz. of .900 fine gold, its mintage reported to be 532,000.

Magnificent Quarter Eagle Imagery

A Native American chief is portrayed on the obverse, facing left, wearing a spectacularly detailed ceremonial headdress. The portrait is surrounded by thirteen five-pointed stars, divided by the inscriptions "LIBERTY" and "1929." The artist's initials "BLP" appear above the date.

A bald eagle is stoically posed on the reverse, grasping an olive branch, while perched upon a cluster of arrows with "2 1/2 DOLLARS" inscribed below. Additional inscriptions include "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Beautiful Mint State 63

This 1929 Indian Head $2.50 Gold Quarter Eagle received the impressive grade of Mint State 63 from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Expect the coin to be well struck, featuring a high percentage of original Mint luster and fantastic eye appeal. The coin is presented in a sonically sealed protective holder accompanied by a NGC certification label.
