Why add this 1928 Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold Double Eagle coin to your collection?
At the dawn of the 20th century, President Theodore Roosevelt sought to re-design the nation's coinage, based upon his appreciation for the symbolic imagery upon the coins of the ancient Greeks and Romans. The Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle series introduced in 1907 was a result of his vision. The coin's powerful liberty and freedom themed design was created by acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, in a collaborative effort with the President.
