Featuring Bela Lyon Pratt's Famous Incuse Designs

Obverse: Bela Lyon Pratt designed both faces of this coin. The obverse features a left-facing Native American man who has a feathered headdress on his head. "LIBERTY" and "1928" are inscribed along the rim and are joined by thirteen stars.

Reverse: An eagle faces left in Pratt's reverse design. Perched on arrows that are wrapped in an olive branch, the bird is flanked by the mottoes "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." Arching over the image is the name of the issuing country, "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," while the coin's face value, "2 1/2 DOLLARS," is noted below. Bela Lyon Pratt was born in Connecticut and graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Yale. He is known for the "Pratt coins," the Indian Head Quarter Eagle and Half Eagle.
