Why purchase this perfectly graded Commemorative 24 Karat 1928 $5,000 Gold Certificate?
This 24 karat commemorative gold foil certificate is a beautiful reproduction of the 1928 Gold Certificate issued with a $5,000 legal tender value. Gold Certificates were a U.S. paper currency backed by gold coinage, which were issued from 1863 until the federal gold recall in 1933. This commemorative replica certificate is minted from 100 mg of .999 fine gold.
Design of the $5,000 Gold Certificate
The obverse features an oval-framed portrait of James Madison, Founding Father and fourth President of the United States. Madison is known as the "Father of the Constitution" for his involvement in the drafting and promotion of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights. The design of the certificate is a close copy of the original, with the addition of the inscription "100 MG 24K GOLD" and the notation that the certificate is "NOT LEGAL TENDER."
The reverse is ornamented with intricate patterns centered around the certificate's denomination of "5000." Additional inscriptions include "THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS."
