Why Order This MS63 1927 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle?

A number of impressive designs have been used on U.S. coins that are considered classic today. Many believe that the Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle is the most beautiful coin ever struck by the U.S. Mint. The Double Eagle offered here was struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1927. It had a mintage of 2,946,750 pieces, which is moderate for the series.

Exquisite Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs by Saint-Gaudens

The date can be found on the obverse. This side shows Liberty in front of our nation's Capitol building. She is holding an olive branch above the date while she holds a torch with her other hand. A border of stars is at the edge of the design.

The inscriptions on the reverse include the face value. This design shows an eagle in flight. The sun and its rays are actually below the eagle.

NGC Certified MS63

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation was chosen to grade this Double Eagle. From their 70 point grading scale it was awarded the grade of Mint State 63. That means this coin is in uncirculated condition. Some imperfections are present, but they are minor.
