Why add the Mint State 64 1927 $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens to your collection?

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) awarded the lofty Mint State 64 grade to this 1927 Saint-Gaudens $20 Gold "Double Eagle." This lovely example was not turned in during the 1933 gold confiscation and likely spent time in the bank vaults of Europe until it was repatriated sometime after 1975. It was struck at the U.S. Mint branch Philadelphia, the nations first Mint. This issue was struck on a .900 fine gold planchet guaranteed to contain .9675 oz. AGW.

Timeless Saint-Gaudens design

With his $20 gold "Double Eagle" design, Augustus Saint-Gaudens gave us the most beautiful gold coin ever struck in the U.S. The obverse image depicts the Goddess Liberty, hair flowing in the wind, holding the Torch of Enlightenment and an olive branch. The reverse of the coin features an eagle flying in the dawning rays of a new day.

Mint State 64, excellent grade for a business strike coin

Mint State 64 specimens are fully struck examples with above average eye appeal. These coins tend to have some bag or contact marks due to their history. These distractions are generally minor to moderate and also tend to be away from the focal areas of the design. The Mint State 64 grade is a highly desirable grade for a business strike coin.

This classic 1927 $20 Gold Saint-Gaudens "Double Eagle" will not last long. It was graded Mint State 64 by NGC. Order yours from ModernCoinMart today!
